UMD Sport Performance Internship

Please see the attached flyer for an internship opportunity with UMD Athletics in the area of Sports Performance/ Strength & Conditioning.

Please note, while many students are interested in pursuing Athletic Training / Physical Therapy internships through UMD Sports Medicine in the Department of Athletics, they are full for the fall. 

They will likely start taking applications for spring semester in late fall (deadline is usually Dec 1st) . They have their own application so if you are interested in receiving more information about that, please reach out to Dr. Klossner in mid to late fall semester. Power Train is Hiring!

Power Train Sports & Fitness is looking to hire for our Strength & Conditioning Coach position. Part-time and full-time positions are currently available. We are seeking students or graduates looking to gain experience in the strength & conditioning and personal training fields. We work with a wide variety of middle school, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, as well as adults of any age and fitness level. Wagner College Sports Performance Internship

This program is for students who have an interest in strength and conditioning/sports performance at the division one level. Throughout the duration of the program, students will cover topics such as:

-Principles of Athletic Development
-7 Areas of Program Design
-3 Principles of Exercise Selection
-Steps to Successful Implementation and Growth of a Program
-Nutrition
-Recovery
-Coaching- Lift Technique & Teaching Progressions
-Speed, Agility, Change of Direction

Interns will have the opportunity to meet and learn from coaches and professionals from different backgrounds and different levels of collegiate and professional sport such as strength and conditioning, dietetics, sports psych, physical therapy.

Sports Performance Internship

D-BAT Gaithersburg is a Premier Baseball & Softball training facility. At 40,000 square feet it is the largest baseball and softball training facility on the east coast. This includes a 15,000 sq ft Sports Performance Center (SPC) Directed by Coach John Philbin. 

Mr. Philbin is a strength and conditioning specialist with over 30 years of experience. He has 10 years of experience in Major League Baseball and is a former Olympian in addition to many other experiences and accolades including teaching in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland.

Coach Philbin/ D-BATS is looking for Sports Performance / Science Interns. 
Interns will work closely with the Sports Performance team and potentially MedStar Physical Therapy.

Sports Performance Intern:

We are seeking individuals - Sports Performance Interns - who are passionate about sports and fitness and have a strong desire for excellence and success while working in a team-oriented atmosphere when assisting and training athletes. They must enjoy working with clients of all ages and abilities, with a primary focus on the 8 to 18 age group. 

The internship will consist of 3 main focus areas:
  1. Process: Understand the Redline path and take ownership of a component within it
  2. Platform: Build knowledge of Fusionetics platform to evaluate the process to test athletics via the application
  3. Project: Complete a project at the end of internship that displays skills learned and strengths in skillsets

Sports Marketing Intern:

We are seeking an individual - Sports Marketing Intern - who has a passion about sports and fitness and has a strong desire for excellence and success while working in a team oriented atmosphere when assisting anyone that interacts with Redline Athletics - Bowie. They must enjoy working with people of all ages and abilities, with a primary focus on the 8 to 18 age group and those athletes' parents. We are looking for a person who is extremely high-energy, motivating, passionate about helping people, while also learning how to market the business in numerous mediums. 

  1. The internship will consist of 3 main focus areas:
  2. Process: Understand the sales and marketing process from social media lead generation to in-person tours and client completion.
  3. Platform: Build knowledge of MindBody and High Level applications to manage and better client experiences.
  4. Project: Complete a project at the end of internship that displays skills learned and strengths in skillsets.

Interns will learn the science and practice of collegiate strength and conditioning through hands on practical weight room experience as well as weekly lectures on a variety of topics. You will have the opportunity to work with our 32 teams—including our 2019 Ivy League Championship Football team and 2018 National Championship Men's Lacrosse team.


Preferred Qualifications: recent graduate or pursuing degree in Exercise Science, though we accept applications from all interested in this field. The position is unpaid, but is good for college credit and CEU's with the NSCA.
