UNCW Applied Gerontology

Why pursue a graduate degree in Applied Gerontology and why at UNCW?

- The population is aging, and the 85+ sector is growing the most rapidly. Career options for those who understand and care about the needs, desires, and opportunities surrounding older adults will continue to increase.
- Studying aging helps us understand, prepare for, and accept our own experiences as well as the experiences of our family, friends, co-workers, and others.
- The GRE is not required for admission to the Masters of Applied Gerontology at UNCW.
- The program at UNCW prepares graduates with knowledge and skills from a bio-psycho-social-humanities perspective, building in community engagement and hands-on learning experiences.
- Practicum and elective options are highly flexible, allowing students to tailor their programs of study based on their interests and career goals.
- Wilmington is along the Cape Fear River AND the Atlantic coast!
